In this conversation Judy Carman and Elizabeth Schultz share their perspectives on society’s relationship with animals and the importance of interacting with animals on a daily basis. These two women work tirelessly to change the contemporary status quo and treatment of animals. In the interview Judy shares insights from her book “Peace to All Beings: Veggie Soup for the Chicken’s Soul” and the motivations behind the group she has co-founded called Animal Outreach of Kansas.

Judy is also the founder of the Circle of Compassion Initiative, and co-coordinator of the Universal Prayer Circle for the Animals. Judy Carman and Tina Volpe are the authors of the book, “The Missing Peace: The Hidden Power of Our Kinship with Animals”. Elizabeth Schultz is Professor Emeritus of English and has served for many years as Chair of the Humanities and Comparative Literature programs at the University of Kansas.  She is most known, however, for being one of the foremost scholars on Herman Melville and his famous work “Moby-Dick”.
