Opening Friday, June 6th from 6-9PM at Front/Space (217 W. 18th), Civilian Stories and Lots of Love present You Can’t Hurry Love. Featuring the design, sculpture, and photography of Sean Starowitz, Matthew Hayden, Nate Kautzer, Andrew Lyles, Taylor Pruitt, and Jessica N Rogers, You Can’t Hurry Love is about the patience, push, and pull to which artists, designers, engineers and community organizations must yield, in order to confront loss and transform an abandoned neighborhood center into the cultural nucleus it once was.
In addition, responding to demands for a dominoes table in the lot from residents in the surrounding neighborhood, You Can’t Hurry Love will also house a dominoes table for the length of the exhibition. You Can’t Hurry Love is part of the Civilian Exhibition Series at Front/Space, a prelude to the release of The Civilian, a journal for art, literature, and civics. Throughout the summer, Front/Space will continue to host this series of exhibitions critical to accounting for the forces that characterize the relationships between art, literature, government, and the public.
