50/50 Progress

Since being awarded the Rocket Grant in May, 50/50 has made major progress towards its mission of activating unused urban space in the West Bottoms.

In July 50/50 launched a Kickstarter and social media marketing campaign to increase community awareness and raise the additional funds outlined in the project’s budget. The paralleled campaigns along with a well attended Kickstarter Launch Event hosted at the Kansas City Design Center (KCDC) aided in the success of the crowdsourcing initiative.

Ultimately, 50/50 surpassed the original $10,000 crowdsourcing goal, raising a total of $11,330. With this momentum and funding 50/50 has been able to move forward with the construction phase which is currently underway.

50/50 continues to collaborate with Kansas City Design Center students who designed the space. Recently the team successfully completed the construction set under the advising of Generator Studio and APEX Engineers.
