Thanks to the full-project award granted by the Rocket Grants and Charlotte Street Foundation, Randall Jenson (Director, SocialScope Productions) is creating a new healing art video project focused on sharing the resiliency and strengths of transgender and gender non-conforming (TGNC) youth in the Kansas City metro region.
Are you a transgender or gender non-conforming (TGNC) young person under 21 and looking to connect with peers?
There is a new TGNC youth social and support group starting this June, supported by other self-identified TGNC adult facilitators and mentors.
reStart, Inc. – Housing Solution Center
1444 E. 8th St.
Kansas City, MO 64106
This is a confidential group and open only to young people 21 and under who are questioning their gender identity or identify as TGNC.
It will meet the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month from 6-8pm.
Our upcoming Tuesday, July 5th meeting will focus on the topic of MTF (Male-to-Female) trans men and transitional procedures and introduce our lead facilitator, Ash R. Allee, MSW, who works during the day as the Linkage to Care Coordinator at the KC Care Clinic.
Our 2016 summer group dates are:
- July 5
- July 19
- August 2
- August 16
Food and refreshments will be provided.
Bus cards available if needed!
There is also an informal guardian/parent’s support group of TGNC youth that meets at the same time in a separate space of the Housing Solutions Center too!
For the guardian/parent’s support group, at the July 19th meeting, Debi Jackson will be a guest speaker. She is the current President of Kansas City’s PFLAG and Director of Trans-Parenting.com and will be available to answer questions and provide resources to loved ones.
