Check out the August Meeting of the High School Students’ Science Alliance at H.M.S. Beagle
180 English Landing Drive in Downtown Parkville
MONDAY AUGUST 8 at 7 PM
Daniel Eichenbaum and Bob Riddle, two members of the group Dark Matter, will be talking to the group about helping with their project, “Ascent.” Dark Matter received a 2011-2012 Rocket Grant to build and launch a high-resolution balloon camera system to shoot video footage at the edge of space above Kansas City. The video and still footage will later be used to create a live performance with music and narration next spring in the Gottlieb Planetarium. With HSSSA’s help, they hope to launch this September and reach for the stars.
Their website: http://www.darkmatterkc.com/ has more information on “Ascent.”
This meeting will also be exploring the “Chemistry of Pyro.”
Please bring notebooks and pens; there will be plenty of “secret” formulas revealed and presenters will attempt to answer all your questions about pyrotechnics.
Please RSVP to the event announcement: clk at hms-beagle.com (Please copy and reformat this address with a regular “no spaces and @” to send. It has been altered to avoid phishing problems). Thanks.
The Beagle’s High School Students’ Science Alliance is open to all students 9th through 12th grades.
There is no charge to be a member.
However, there will be minimum fees for supplies for activities at some of the meetings.
