CALL FOR APPLICATIONS for the 5th round of Rocket Grants Project Awards opened at http://www.callforentry.org on January 13, 2014. The deadline for completed applications will be March 24, 2014, and funds will be available to selected projects in June 2014.

Rocket Grants receive support from the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, and are developed and implemented though a partnership between the Charlotte Street Foundation in Kansas City, MO and the Spencer Museum of Art, at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, KS. These grants are designed to fuel the dynamism of the Kansas City region’s art ecology by providing direct support for innovative, experimental, artist-driven, and artist-centered projects.

Rocket Grants award up to $6,000 for projects that:

• happen in surprising places

• challenge mainstream methods of thinking, making or presentation

• add energy and diversity to the regional art ecology

• encourage the development of new kinds of audiences

• address and provide opportunities for creative growth to either the artist community, or the general public (projects can address both)

Rocket Grants are intended to enable individuals and groups of artists to take new risks with their work, push the scope and scale of their activities, develop and pursue collaborative projects, and engage with members of the public, the public realm and other artists in inventive and meaningful ways.

The program is designed to create ripple effects and to contribute to a regional culture characterized by unconventional and expansive forms of interaction, exchange, provocation, and surprise.

During the application window there will be outreach presentations at sites around the eligibility zone (shown in the map above), and opportunities to speak with the program coordinator about your application.
